By early evening the heat at Emblisi has softened into something kinder. The day has thinned out, the water has gone almost completely still, and the light coming off the sea has turned the mountains across the bay a pale, unhurried pink. It is the best hour of the day on a Greek beach, and there is almost no one left to notice it.
This was not a shoot in any arranged sense. There was a swim to be had before dinner, and Studio 8 was simply there — close enough to the water to catch what was happening, far enough back not to interrupt it. A last length before the light went. Someone watching from the shore, shoes in hand. No poses, no direction, nobody asked to smile.
What you are looking at is roughly fifteen minutes of an ordinary holiday evening, photographed by someone who happened to be paying attention.
The Photographs You Don't Notice Being Taken
