There's a particular kind of evening that arrives once and leaves a mark. Maddie and Alex chose to meet theirs together — not two celebrations collapsed into one, but a genuinely shared night, held at Richmond Golf Club, where a Georgian manor house lent the occasion the weight it deserved.
The guests arrived in sequins. Gold, silver, black — each one catching the last of the April light as people gathered on the steps outside, champagne in hand, everyone in their finest. There was an ease to it, the kind that only comes when a group of people have known each other long enough to have nothing to prove. Formal, but not stiff. Dressed up, but entirely themselves.
Studio 8 was there from the beginning: from the arrivals on the gravel outside, cool air, coats left somewhere inside, to the dance floor later in the evening when jackets had long since disappeared and an inflatable saxophone had made several appearances.
The venue was perfect.
Richmond Golf Club's manor exterior — pale columns, curved staircase with fairy lights threaded through the railings — gave the group portraits a natural drama that needed no addition.
Inside, the rooms shifted in atmosphere: amber bar light and close conversation, then a ballroom with a chequered floor and a DJ who eventually had the whole room moving.
What Studio 8 looks for in an evening like this are the unguarded moments in between the poses — the glance across a room, the laughter that arrives before anyone has thought to arrange their face. Those are the photographs that, ten years from now, will pull the whole night back in one glance.
